A new(ish) Twitter logo, sans name.

It seems not a month passes by without Twitter changing something about it’s user interface or it’s design. They seem to be constantly iterating their look and feel, but not always with success - it could be reasonably argued that many of the changes are indeed steps backward, or at the very least, steps sideward.
So it was very nice to see an unequivocally forward step for Twitter’s identity, with a redrawn birdie to serve as it’s primary identifier. As Armin Vit points out in this review, no more word mark, no more spelling it out - in 6 years Twitter thinks it has the strength and recognition to drop the word from it’s logo. It’s ballsy, and perhaps a tad premature - brands like Nike, Apple, Starbucks or Target took many, many more years to reach that point.
Or then again maybe it’s all fine and people will just get it anyway. Right?
